Fandom: Psych

Saw a bunch of these floating around tumblr, but couldn't find a complete list for Shawn Spencer, so I decided to just make one myself. These are all the episodes of Psych which contain moments of Shawn!whump — including hurt/comfort, lightly whumpy scenarios, and emotional whump. I'm sure I'm going to miss a few on my first attempt, so I'll keep updating this list as I discover more moments in rewatches of the show. (Or, if you have some episodes to add, send me a message and let me know!)

(Psych is mostly a comedy, so a lot of these moments are very brief and/or played for laughs. So this key is for anyone looking for only the really good whumpy moments.)

Season 1

1x01 "Pilot" - While Lassiter is wrestling Shawn into the police car, he bangs Shawn's head against the door frame. Also, lots of general manhandling throughout the episode.
1x02 "Spellingg Bee" - Shawn is run off the road on his motorcycle and ends up in a knee brace, limping for the rest of the episode.
1x04 "Woman Seeking Dead Husband: Smokers Okay, No Pets" - Repeatedly held at gunpoint and held prisoner by various bad guys.
1x05 "9 Lives" - Once again roughly manhandled by Lassiter, including being shoved into a coffee table. Also, held at gunpoint along with his friends.

Season 2

2x03 "Psy vs Psy" - Briefly taken hostage with a gun to his head. Villain also tricks Shawn into having sex with her under false pretenses, which he later realizes.
2x09 "Bounty Hunters!" - Chased, threatened, and held at gunpoint at various times throughout. Goes into a biker bar where he is captured and hung from the ceiling by chains.
2x15 "Black and Tan: A Crime of Fashion" - Not whump, but some angsty!Shawn about 15-20 minutes into the episode.

Season 3

♡ 3x01 "Ghosts" - Angsty/angry Shawn confronting a lot of childhood issues. Also, his awful parents being awful/insensitive.
3x04 "The Greatest Adventure in the History of Basic Cable" - Repeatedly chased, threatened, held at gunpoint, almost taken hostage for ransom, shot at, captured and tied up, betrayed by someone he trusted.
3x06 "There Might Be Blood" - Intense confrontation with murderer while being held at gunpoint.
♡ 3x08 "Gus Walks Into A Bank" - Lots of angst in first half as he's worried over best friend's safety. Physically restrained from running into dangerous situation, briefly taken hostage at gunpoint, lightly manhandled by Lassiter (again) as well as obnoxious SWAT cop.
3x10 "6 Feet Under The Sea" - Held at gunpoint by bad guys.
★ 3x11 "Lassie Did A Bad, Bad Thing" - Punched and knocked out, captured by villain, held at gunpoint, pistol-whipped, almost shot, dizzy and in pain from head injury, almost passes out.
3x12 "Earth, Wind and... Wait for It" - Trapped in burning building, almost killed in explosion, coughing, smoke inhalation, oxygen mask.
3x13 "Any Given Friday Night at 10pm, 9pm Central" - Captured by murderers and almost killed before being rescued.
3x15 "Tuesday the 17th" - Chased and scared as part of a "prank", almost killed for real, last minute rescue.
★ ☯ ♡ 3x16 "An Evening With Mr Yang" - Targeted by a serial killer, pyschological games, angsty serious/angry!Shawn throughout episode, loved ones threatened, intense confrontation with killer, generally stressed/freaked out entire episode.

Season 4

4x01 "Extradition: British Columbia" - Held at gunpoint, briefly held prisoner by bad guy while threatened to drop investigation.
4x03 "High Noon-ish" - Almost trampled by horses, falls into mineshaft, briefly injured/in pain due to fall, trapped in cave-in.
4x05 "Shawn Gets The Yips" - Turns out to be false alarm, but brief bomb threat to Shawn's life.
4x07 "High Top Fade Out" - Held at gunpoint and shot at. Cruel "prank" from coworkers in which he's kidnapped and held prisoner overnight believing he could die (seriously, Jules and Lassie, wtf?!?).
★ 4x09 "Shawn Takes A Shot In The Dark" - THE ultimate Psych whump episode. Shawn gets shot, bleeding out for entire episode, kidnapped, trapped in trunk of car, chased through woods, repeatedly shot at, repeatedly threatened at gunpoint, knocked unconscious, tied to a chair, choked/strangled to keep him from talking, jumps from a moving vehicle, exhausted/almost passes out, briefly comforted by his dad. Bonus points: some angsty!Shawn, badass!Shawn, and rare moment of his shooting skills on display.
4x12 "A Very Juliet Episode" - Chases down bad guy on his motorcycle, held at gunpoint. Fight with bad guy that results in multiple instances of being punched, kicked, and generally roughed up.
★ ☯ ♡ 4x16 "Mr. Yin Presents..." - Nightmares, anxiety, vaguely implied trauma over events from previous season finale. Targeted by another serial killer who kidnaps two people he cares about and forced him to choose between them. Protective hug from his dad after being very shaken up at the end of the episode.

Season 5

5x01 "Romeo And Juliet And Juliet" - Falls through window, fight with bad guy, kicked through wall, generally beaten up by end.
5x04 "Chivalry Is Not Dead... But Someone Is" - Poisoned, collapses, brief hospital recovery scene.
5x07 "Ferry Tale" - Taken hostage, threatened, kicked in the face, tied up, tear gas inhalation.
♡ 5x09 "One, Maybe Two, Ways Out" - Not whump, but lots of angsty Shawn and heartbreak over losing Juliet to another guy.
5x12 "Dual Spires" - Trapped in burning building, rescued.
★ ☯ 5x16 "Yang 3 in 2D" - More serial killer angst, captured by villain, held at gunpoint, tied to chair, almost forced to watch his best friend die.

Season 6

6x02 "Last Night Gus" - Mostly played for comedy, but lots of confused/stressed Shawn. Hungover, missing memories, shot at, almost blown up. Bonus rare moment of angry!Shawn (though, again, mostly for comedy this time).
6x05 "Dead Man's Curve Ball" - Not very whumpy, but Shawn accidentally gets drugged and is high on speed for a while. Also, light angst as Shawn believes he was let down by someone he trusted.
6x06 "Shawn Interrupted" - Mental patient for undercover assignment, knocked unconscious, forcibly restrained in mental hospital, held at gunpoint.
6x10 "Indiana Shawn and the Temple of the Kinda Crappy, Rusty Old Dagger" - Grieving a dead friend, poorly coping with loss, breaking down crying. Threatened at knifepoint, lightly knocked around during fight with friend, held at gunpoint.
★ ♡ 6x13 "Let's Doo-Wop It Again" - Collapses, hospital stay, appendicitis, forced to lie to friends at gunpoint, drugged.
6x16 "Santabarbaratown" - Knife to the throat, girlfriend threatened, punched, black eye.

Season 7

★ ♡ 7x01 "Santabarbaratown 2" - Massive angst as Shawn freaks out over his dad being shot. LOTS of angry!Shawn moments. Lack of sleep, stress, held at gunpoint, almost killed by landmine, multiple breaking and entering attempts, threatens a criminal at gunpoint, almost shot.
★ ♡ 7x08 "Right Turn Or Left For Dead" - Heartbroken, lots of angsty Shawn, bruised, concussion, head slammed into glass, bloody shirt, almost run over, stabbed in shoulder, insomnia, depressed.

Season 8

8x01 "Lock, Stock, Some Smoking Barrels and Burton Guster's Goblet of Fire" - Held at gunpoint, tied up.
♡ 8x10 "The Break Up" - Lots of angsty Shawn and some good serious!Shawn moments. Saying goodbye to friends/family, held at gunpoint, shot at, car chase, rescued by dad.

The Movies

★ ☯ "Psych: The Musical" - Jumps through glass, knocked unconscious, hanged by neck for several seconds and falls really far after rope is cut. (Should probably be dead after that tbh.)
☯ "Psych: The Movie" - Chased, repeatedly held at gunpoint, brief moments of angsty Shawn.
"Psych 2: Lassie Come Home" - Some light angsty Shawn moments, worrying over Lassiter, held at gunpoint, crashes motorcycle, drugged and hallucinating, steps in front of gun to protect his wife, fight with his dad in which Henry is yet again an insensitive and awful parent, general stress/worry over relationship with Juliet.
