Unboxing: Furby 2023

My local Walmart was having a massive clearance sale in their toy section, so naturally I stopped to fill up a cart with goodies. (I have a lot of nieces and nephews, those birthdays get expensive fast if I don't learn to take advantage of sales lol.) Anyway, I happened to find a bunch of 2023 Furby toys on sale for a terrific price. I've been wanting some of the 2023 toyline for a little while now, so I couldn't pass up the opportunity.

I'd been wanting the Coral, but they unfortunately only had Purple available. For the price I managed to get it at, though, I'm not going to be picky. Right away, I do love the packaging. It's so bright and fun. Opening it up, this remained true on the inside, too. I can imagine kids having a blast while opening it.

Fun little detail: The cardboard backing that's designed to look like the Furby's "room" features a little image of a 1998 Furby!

Getting the Furby out was mostly easy until the last stage. For some reason, they secured it to the cardboard base by screwing the cardboard right into its battery cover. To get it off the base, I had to unscrew the battery cover, remove the cardboard pieces, and reattach the battery cover. Not sure why they thought this was a good design, but oh well.

And she's free! I actually like the color a lot better in person. The design is softer and prettier than it had looked in the promotional photos. Love the soft fur, too. I think that and the hair tuft definitely brings to mind the classic Furby design. (But still no tail! When will they give Furby back its tail?) I have to admit it's a lot cuter than the 2012, Boom, Connect, etc. all were. Probably my second favorite design, after the original 1998s.

And a few last pics for size comparison. I was curious how she measured against the 1998 model. And I wanted to see the difference between the adult and Furbling sizes.

...and we're done! Another Furby added to the flock. I'm going to start on some actual collection and wishlist pages for my Furbys so I can better track this hobby. In the meantime, I'm pleasantly surprised with how much I like the 2023 Furby. Not as good as the 1998, of course, but a very close second in my opinion.
