NaNoWriMo Check In - Week 3

I did so good last weekend. Between the 12-hour marathon on Saturday and the coffee shop session on Sunday, I managed to get pretty far ahead of the official goal. But, alas, work still exists and I once again started to falter throughout the week. Last night, my "safety net" had narrowed to only 500 words ahead. That means I need to write at least a thousand words today if I don't want to fall behind again. That should be doable, but I can't seem to focus today.

Whether it's the ADHD brain not cooperating again, burn out after pushing myself too hard, or simply a waning interest in the whole thing, I hate that I'm really struggling to want to write. I've already written more words this NaNo than I have in any of my previous years attempting it, it'd be such a shame to stop now when I'm over halfway there.

My roommate reminded me that my original goal for NaNo was to simply beat my previous record of 25k words, which I have. So I should be happy to have at least hit that goal. And I am. But I've never been this close to actually beating NaNo before; I don't want to give up without really trying my best.

I guess we'll see how the final week goes. I need to write thirteen thousand words in the next seven days if I want to hit that finish line.
