Well, it's done. I've finally made a blog for this site. I've been wanting to start a blog here for awhile now, as a means of journaling some of my web-building adventures and fandom life, but kept procrastinating it. For completely arbitrary reasons, I've decided that 2024 is the year I'm going to start actually doing some of the things on my never-ending "to do" list. So, here is my blog.
Being that we're at the start of a new year, I also think it's fitting that this first entry be a place to jot down some of my plans and dreams for 2024 (or, at least, as far as the site and fandom activities are concerned).
Let's start with some goals/ideas for this site. Besides launching this blog, I would also like to set up an area to start archiving my fandom meta posts. Things on tumblr have a tendency to get lost easily (I still deeply regret deleting some of my old tumblr profiles without saving any of the posts) and forums have a nasty tendency to disappear as soon as the owners lose interest in running them. Having a dedicated space to backup my meta seems like a good idea.
Another thing I'd like to get set up on here is a page for fandom research. It's a topic I've recently become obsessed with, and I think it'd be fun to document some of my discoveries and endeavors. Also, maybe posting about some of my current searches will open the possibility for others to join the project and/or share whatever info they might already have on the topic.
Also, I'm once again making goals for myself regarding the fanfic archive on here. I had wanted to get all my current fics uploaded to this site by the end of 2023. Obviously, that didn't happen. I'm not even halfway done. This project is more time consuming than I had originally assumed, and I keep running into issues with how to conveniently store and organize them. But I'm determined to get a lot further in that project during this coming summer.
Lastly, let's talk about fansites and shrines. I took a huge step this month by finally launching several of my shrines. The big ones are not yet complete, but I wanted to post what I had built so far and figured I could keep updating as I had time.
The Librarian shrine started as a few simple pages in November 2023... and then refused to stop growing and expanding. A lot of the pages are currently offline while I continue working on them (hence the many dead links on the main page and menus) but it's shaping up to be a lot larger than I had originally planned. And I've decided it's time to give in and let it be as large as needed. My new goal is to migrate it onto its own site by the end of 2024. In 2025, I would like to add a fanfic and media archive, and then maybe in 2026 look into adding a forum.
I also decided that Neocities works great as a homebase for my web-building adventures. So, I'm once again moving my Superman fansite. It got shuffled from weebly to GoogleSites a few years ago, and now I'd like to get it set up on a Neocities site of its own.
Beyond that, I also want to focus more on being active in fandom spaces this year. More meta posts, more fanfics, more engaging with the community. (we'll see if I end up actually having the time and energy for any of that -_-)
Here's to a fantastic and productive 2024!
