Christmas Kiss | Superman Fanfic

Lois crept quietly down the stairs, narrowly avoiding that one stair that always creaked. Reaching the living room below, she smiled at the sight of Clark setting the gifts around the tree. The room was mostly darkened, the soft warm glow of the tree's lights the only illumination left.

She slipped up behind him and leaned down to drop a brief kiss on his cheek. "Almost done?"

He glanced over his shoulder at her with a smile. "Almost. Did you finally get Jon to bed?"

"Finally. Is the endless energy another thing I should blame on the Kryptonian genes?"

Clark chuckled softly. "No, I'm pretty sure that's the result of having an eight year old who knows there's Christmas presents coming." He set the last of the gifts under the tree and stood, dropping an arm around his wife as she snuggled in against his side.

"Just in time for midnight. Not bad. Now, any objections to me accepting my gift a little early?"

"You want to open yours now?"

Shaking her head, she said, "That's not quite what I had in mind."

Pushing up onto tiptoes, she pulled him down into a kiss, which he immediately reciprocated. A warmth rushed through her at the tenderness and familiarity with which they easily fit together now, a product of the many years of exploring and learning each other's every facet. When they pulled back for breath, Lois smiled against his lips.

"C'mon," she whispered. "It's time for our own holiday celebrating."

He scooped her up into a bridal carry and she looped her arms around his neck with an amused grin. "Sounds like a perfect idea," he agreed readily. As he moved toward the stairs, Clark leaned in for one more quick kiss before murmuring, "Merry Christmas, Lois."

"Merry Christmas, Clark."
